Did
you know that the best cave diving in the entire world is right here in the US, in Florida?
People travel all over the world to dive to find what we have in our own (southern) backyard. In
fact, most of the modern cave diving equipment and techniques were developed here. It is the "ground zero"
of caving.
Isn't it very dangerous?
It
is true that cave divng is not for everyone. But for people who are properly trained, cave diving is actually safer
than open water diving based on accident statistics. This is true for two basic reasons. First, proper cave training
develops the skills and knowledge needed. Second, divers have the appropriate gear and experience to safely, and
independently solve problems. Third, the environment never changes - you don't have to deal with changing currents,
storms, or high seas.
